Wike's Intervention Ends FCT Teachers' Indefinite Strike

The indefinite strike action by public school teachers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was met with intervention from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who summoned the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) for an emergency meeting. This strike had halted academic activities across six area councils, affecting thousands of children.

Dr. Aliyu Daniel Kwali, President of the FCT Stakeholders Assembly, praised Wike's actions as a turning point in the industrial action during a press briefing in Abuja.

He emphasized that Wike's leadership restored hope for worried parents and guardians. The minister's proactive approach was commended, with stakeholders urging teachers to reciprocate Wike's goodwill and allow dialogue to continue.

The assembly issued a communiqué supporting Wike's intervention, describing it as a masterstroke to avert a full-blown crisis. As of the press time, the NUT had not officially called off the strike, but union leadership reportedly expressed satisfaction with Wike's commitment to resolving the issue.
