FCTA Distributes Vein Finders to Enhance Healthcare

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) distributed vein finders to improve healthcare delivery, as announced by Hudu Yakubu, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communication, and Lere Olayinka. The initiative, disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday, is part of the mandate of the Health Services Environment Secretariat, led by Dr.

Dolapo Fasaw. Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, described the vein finder as an essential tool for modern healthcare delivery.

Dr. Fasaw explained that the advanced medical device enhances patient care by improving the accuracy and efficiency of venous access procedures.

The vein finder assists healthcare professionals in locating veins for intravenous (IV) cannulation and blood sample collection, particularly among patients with difficult venous anatomy, including children, older persons, and individuals with obesity. The device aims to reduce the need for multiple needle insertions, making procedures quicker and less painful for patients.

The distribution exercise will benefit healthcare personnel in participating hospitals through practical training sessions on the device's operation and maintenance.
