FCTA Workers Return to Work After Truce with Governor Wike

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) witnessed a return to normalcy as workers resumed duties following a truce between the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Governor Nyesom Wike. The labor unions had suspended their solidarity protest after a marathon meeting that resolved the standoff.

The protest stemmed from unresolved welfare issues, leading to a strike by the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) on January 19. Despite a court order to resume duties, union leaders initially rejected it.

However, a late-night meeting involving Governor Wike, union leaders, and Senator Moham Bomoi led to a positive resolution. The agreement, acknowledged by the labor secretaries, ensures that FCTA staff can return to work without delay, marking a significant step towards restoring industrial peace in Abuja.
