FCT Workers Resume After Truce with Minister Wike Following Overnight Negotiations

Following a breakthrough agreement reached after overnight conciliatory talks led by Minister Nyesom Wike, striking workers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria have returned to work. The negotiations, which began at 11:45 pm on Monday and concluded at 3:51 am on Tuesday, involved representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

The Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) members, affiliated with NLC and TUC, agreed to end the strike and resume work immediately as directed by the Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory (MFCT). Minister Wike assured workers of mutual respect and ongoing engagement to address grievances.

The agreement also included the withdrawal of cases related to the dispute at the National Industrial Court (NIC). The resumption of work aims to ensure the continuity of critical public services and government projects, including the reopening of schools in the area.
