FEC Approves ₦493 Billion For Kano-Katsina Road Upgrade, New Carter Bridge In Lagos

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a budget of ₦493 billion for the upgrade of the Kano-Katsina road and the construction of a new Carter Bridge in Lagos. The Minister of Works disclosed this information after a briefing following the FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Kano-Katsina road project will be split into two sections, with Section One receiving ₦244 billion and Section Two getting ₦249 billion. The new Carter Bridge in Lagos is estimated to cost ₦15 billion, with discussions ongoing with Deutsche Bank for possible funding.

The Minister also highlighted severe structural damage discovered during underwater inspections of the Carter Bridge and the 3rd Mainland Bridge, with rehabilitation costs projected to be in the trillions. The FEC also approved emergency interventions for several bridges.
