Nigeria to spend N3.6tn on 3rd Mainland Bridge Lagos rehabilitation – Umahi

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced that Nigeria will spend N3.6 trillion on the rehabilitation of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos due to its underwater structure issues. This decision was made during a recent Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Bola Ahmed at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Additionally, the FEC approved N493 billion for two other major projects, including N359 billion to rebuild the Lagos Carter Bridge and N134 billion to upgrade a 152 km road. Umahi emphasized that the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos had been declared irreparable due to structural damage, with costs escalating due to economic changes.

The closure of the bridge was ordered by the Federal Government a week prior, with emergency repairs underway. This rehabilitation project was initially announced in March of this year.
