FEC Approves N427 Billion for Ibadan–Ife–Ilesa Road

On Wednesday, during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, the council approved N427 billion for the reconstruction of the Ibadan–Ife–Ilesa road, a significant route linking key cities in Southwestern Nigeria. The announcement was made by the Minister of Works, David Umahi.

The funding will cover a dualized carriageway over a distance of 103 kilometers, addressing urgent repairs on a collapsed section of the road. The project aims to improve road safety and stimulate economic activities along the corridor.

Umahi noted that the Oyo State government had already completed five kilometers of the road, leaving 103 kilometers under federal oversight. Work is set to begin immediately, with certain sections awaiting full ratification of the contract.

The project is expected to enhance safety, reduce travel time, and boost economic activities in the Ibadan–Ilesa corridor. Additionally, the FEC approved several other major federal road projects, including the Kano-Kongolam road and the Carter Bridge in Lagos.
