FEC Approves Major Road Projects Worth Billions

On Wednesday, the Federal Executive Council (FEC), led by President Bola Tinubu, approved significant road and bridge projects across Nigeria during a press briefing at the State House in Abuja. Key projects include the reconstruction of the 103 km Ibadan-Ilesa road, re-awarded at a cost of 427 billion naira, and the redesign of the 132 km Kano-Kongolam road, which will feature a three-lane concrete carriageway linking Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina states, costing 334 billion naira.

Additionally, the rehabilitation of the 129.3 km Keffi-Nasarawa-Abaji road was approved at 203 billion naira. The Suleja-Minna road, which remains 71 km to completion, received an award amount of 91 billion naira.

The Carter Bridge project in Lagos is set for a detailed design phase with a cost of 5.6 billion naira. The reconstruction of the 86 km Abuja-Lokoja road will involve multiple contractors, including Julius Berger, at a cost of 146 billion naira.

Furthermore, President Tinubu introduced a cashless toll gate system at Nigerian airports to alleviate traffic congestion.
