Dr Usman Dutse Appointed Deputy Rector of FPTB

The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi (FPTB), has appointed Dr Usman Dutse as the new Deputy Rector, effective September 1, 2026. This decision was made during the council's 112th sitting and follows Dutse's election by the polytechnic's Academic Board, where he emerged as the deputy rector-elect after an open secret ballot.

Dutse received the majority of votes from the Academic Board members, and his election was approved by the governing council, ensuring continuity in the administration as the outgoing Deputy Rector, Dr Dalhatu Abubakar, completes his tenure at the end of August 2026. Dr Dutse brings significant experience in academic administration, having previously served as the Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dean of the School of Business Studies, and Head of the Department of Business Administration and Management.

He is also a former chapter chairman and National President of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP).
