Oyo State Appoints New Principal Officers for Polytechnic

On Tuesday, the Oyo State Government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, appointed substantive principal officers for The Polytechnic Ibadan, marking a significant change after over two decades of leadership by acting officers. Dr Lasisi Taiwo Abideen has been appointed as the new Rector.

Additionally, Dr Olajide Taiwo Sherifat has been named the Registrar, Mr Adegbola Abiodun Kolawole is the new Bursar, and Mr Osunrinade Olukunle Akinbola has been appointed as the Librarian. The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, announced these appointments after receiving the governor's approval.

Olayiwola emphasized that the selection process adhered to due process, beginning with a public advertisement in national newspapers and followed by interviews conducted by the Governing Council, chaired by Professor Lanre Nassar. The appointments are effective from July 31, 2026, and are for a single tenure of five years.
