Court Adjourns APC Chairmanship Primary Suit to July 2026

The Federal High Court in Jalingo, Taraba State, has adjourned a legal suit challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship primary until July 1, 2026. Justice Mashkur Salisu ordered the adjournment on Monday after the defense failed to file a statement of defense.

The suit was filed by Abdulhadi Lau, an APC chairmanship aspirant, who is contesting the conduct and outcome of the party's primary election. Lau alleges that he was unlawfully excluded from participating in the primary despite purchasing the party's nomination form and meeting the necessary requirements to contest the position.

He contends that this exclusion violated his constitutional rights and undermined the principles of internal democracy within the party. Lau's legal team urged the court to intervene, arguing that allowing the action to stand poses a danger to the country's democratic system.

The court is expected to hear arguments from both parties on the adjourned date.
