Court Adjourns Taraba APC Chairmanship Dispute to June 2026

The Federal High Court in Jalingo has adjourned the hearing of a suit concerning the chairmanship of the Taraba State Progress Congress (APC) to June 8, 2026. The case involves Abdulhadi Lau, who has accused the current chairman, Abubakar Bawa, of irregularities during the recent state chairmanship primaries.

The court granted an ex parte order for substituted service after it was revealed that the chairman had not been served with court documents, as attempts to deliver them directly were unsuccessful. Barrister Piu Danba Piu, representing the plaintiff, explained that the court's decision allows proceedings to continue even in the absence of the APC chairman.

Emmanuel Georg, a member of the APC, described the situation as an internal party issue that needs resolution. The court's ruling emphasizes that it will continue to hear the case and deliver judgment regardless of the chairman's presence, ensuring fair hearing opportunities.
