APC Aspirant Leah Olusuyi Challenges Primary Election Results

Leah Olusuyi, an aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba, has initiated legal action in the Federal High Court in Jalingo, contesting the results of the party's primary election for the House of Representatives held on May 16, 2026. The primary resulted in Sadiq Tafida being declared the APC candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Olusuyi is requesting the court to invalidate the primary process, alleging that it did not comply with the legal requirements for conducting such elections. The suit was filed within the 14-day statutory window provided by the Electoral Act for pre-election disputes, preserving her right to judicial determination of the internal party contest.

This legal challenge adds to the ongoing tensions within the APC, which has faced multiple litigations from aggrieved aspirants following the primary elections, reflecting a recurring feature of Nigeria's electoral process where party primaries often become battlegrounds before the final selection of candidates.
