Court Adjourns Shinkafi's Suit on APC Primaries Exclusion

The Federal High Court sitting in Gusau, Zamfara, has adjourned the proceedings of a suit filed by Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi concerning his exclusion from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries for the Zamfara North senatorial seat.

The case, which challenges the legality of his exclusion, was mentioned in court on Tuesday and has been adjourned to June 25, 2026, for further hearing. Shinkafi's suit involves the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with the request to nullify the APC primaries on the grounds of wrongful exclusion from participation.

The court proceedings have not advanced significantly due to outstanding issues related to participation, with INEC remaining a second defendant in the case. Barrister Bello Galadi, representing the plaintiff, emphasized the urgency of the pre-election matter and expressed the expectation for an expedited resolution within the legal timelines.
