Federal High Court Launches E-Filing System in Lagos

The Federal High Court of Nigeria officially launched an e-filing system in Lagos on a Monday, signaling the end of the manual filing era. Chief Judge John Terhemba Tsoho unveiled the platform, which aims to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability within the justice system.

The new system will eliminate longstanding inefficiencies associated with manual filing, such as delays and unofficial gatekeeping within registries. Tsoho disclosed that the new regime will allow for real-time tracking of cases and integrate electronic payment channels to ensure full accountability of court fees.

He emphasized that the time taken for case files to reach judges will drastically reduce. This initiative aligns with the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Keker Ekun's call for urgent technological adoption across the judiciary.

Tsoho noted that while challenges may arise during the transition to a paperless system, he is confident that the e-filing system will ultimately enhance service delivery and strengthen public confidence in the judiciary.
