Makinde: Federal Might Won't Influence 2027 Elections

On Thursday, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State declared that the influence of federal might will not determine the outcome of the 2027 elections in Nigeria. He made this statement during the Oyo State Tourism Summit held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.

Makinde emphasized that Nigerians are becoming politically aware and will no longer remain passive during elections. He expressed confidence that voters will actively participate in the upcoming electoral cycle, indicating that politicians should expect to face consequences for their actions.

The governor also mentioned the importance of building strong institutional systems that outlive his tenure. He warned residents against electing leaders without a competitive vision for sustainable development.

Makinde hinted at supporting former Oyo State Commissioner for Finance, Bimbo Adekanmbi, for the governorship seat, while also addressing the need for loyalty and good governance in Oyo State.
