Tributes Pour in for Yoruba Actor Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo)

Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, passed away on Sunday at the age of 66 after a prolonged battle with stage-four cancer. His burial was held on Monday in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, with prayers conducted by the Chief Imam of Ilaro at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground.

The ceremony began at 10 a.m. and was attended by family, colleagues, and fans who celebrated his four-decade career in Yoruba cinema. The grief was palpable, with actor Femi Adebayo breaking down in tears during a movie premiere while paying tribute to Ogogo, surprising attendees at what was intended to be a celebratory event.

Fuji music legend Kwam 1 also struggled to contain his emotions. Ogogo's death followed an emotional public appeal from his daughters, Kira and Haleemah, for medical assistance, as doctors had ceased chemotherapy due to his deteriorating health.

Despite numerous offers of support, he did not recover. Taiwo Hassan was born on October 31, 1959, and began his acting career in 1981.
