Nigeria Accuses Jupiter Ltd of Anti-Nigeria Campaign

The Federal Government of Nigeria has accused Jupiter Ltd of planning a campaign to undermine Nigeria's reputation ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's scheduled state visit to the United Kingdom on March 18-19, 2026. A statement from the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, signed by Special Assistant Segun Tomori, rejected claims that Nigeria seized the British lithium project and described these allegations as false and misleading.

The ministry clarified that there is no legal contractual relationship with Jupiter Ltd, which is identified as a foreign company not permitted to hold mining titles directly in Nigeria. The statement also addressed the revocation of certain mining licenses previously held by Basin Mine Ltd, linked to Australian national Steve Davi, due to unpaid statutory fees totaling 2.494 billion Naira for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to reforming the mining sector and urged stakeholders to disregard attempts to discredit Nigeria's mining reform agenda.
