Nigeria Enhances Education with ICT Support for Colleges

The Federal Government of Nigeria is advancing digital learning, girls' education, and teacher development by providing ICT support to 15 Colleges of Education across Nigeria. This initiative is part of a partnership involving the Federal Ministry of Education, the Government of Japan, and UNESCO's International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA).

The project, titled "Capacity Building for Teachers to Promote Continuous Inclusive Access to Safe Quality Education for Girls in West Africa," is set to launch in 2024 and will be implemented in six African countries, including Nigeria. During the handover ceremony in Abuja, Minister of State for Education, Prof.

Suwaiba Sa'id Ahmad, emphasized the importance of investing in Nigeria's education system. The ICT equipment provided includes 65 laptops, 71 tablets, 23 desktop computers, 5 interactive smart boards, 14 projectors, 15 printers, and 15 backup hard drives.

This initiative aims to strengthen pre-service and in-service teacher training, promote innovative teaching methods, and ensure a safe learning environment, particularly for vulnerable learners.
