FG Promotes Climate Action and Youth Involvement in Nigeria

The Nigerian Federal Government advocates for climate action and natural resource governance, particularly focusing on the youth's role in these areas. During discussions led by Ayodel Olawande, it was noted that young people should not be seen merely as beneficiaries of policy decisions but as critical stakeholders and innovators.

The partnership agreement for the project SPA II was highlighted during the national dialogue post-COP 30 meeting, organized by ActionAid Nigeria in collaboration with the Natural Resource Governance Institute. The ministers recognized that climate change and environmental degradation disproportionately affect young people, impacting their livelihoods, agriculture, health, and employment opportunities.

The commitment to translating climate finance into accessible funds for youth-led initiatives was emphasized, alongside the need for transparency and accountability in natural resource management. The government remains committed to collaborating with civil society organizations and the private sector to ensure youth inclusion in policy formulation and implementation.
