Federal Ministry of Education Releases Approved Textbooks List
The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the final list of ranked and approved textbooks for Nigerian schools, covering the period from 2026 to 2028. This list includes titles for Primary 1, Primary 4, Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS 1), and Senior Secondary School 1 (SS 1).
Each textbook is assigned a unique Ranking/QR Tracking Code, which is displayed alongside the title, author, publisher, and year of publication to facilitate identification and monitoring. The QR-based coding system aims to enhance transparency in the selection, procurement, and usage of instructional materials in schools.
The exercise was overseen by Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, who gave the final approval, and Prof Suwaiba Sa'id Ahmad, the Minister of State for Education. Following the completion of this first phase, preparations will commence for a second phase that will include Primary 2, Primary 5, JSS 2, and SS 2, utilizing the same QR tracking system.
