NYSC Feeding Budget Increased for Corps Members in 2027

The Federal Government has approved an increase in the feeding budget for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) during their orientation course, with implementation expected to begin in 2027. Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director-General of the NYSC, disclosed this information while addressing the 2026 Batch C Stream One corps members at the Cross River State orientation camp in Obubra.
Nafiu stated that the Budget Office had been informed of the upward adjustment and urged corps members to manage their finances responsibly, avoid extravagant spending, and cultivate disciplined saving habits. He also advised them to prioritize their safety while traveling, recommending they avoid journeys after 6 p.m. and rest in secure locations.
Nafiu pledged to enhance engagement with stakeholders to improve infrastructure at the Obubra camp and encouraged corps members to acquire practical skills to enhance their future prospects. The NYSC Cross River State Coordinator, Mrs Adejoke Oyenuga, noted that 1,064 corps members had registered at the camp.
