55-Year-Old Driver Survives Train Collision at PWD Railway Crossing

A Honda vehicle was struck by a moving train at Lagos's PWD railway crossing on Friday, but the driver walked away uninjured after swift rescue by LASTMA.
A 55-year-old motorist escaped without injury after his Honda car, registered as EKY 902 JT, was struck by a train at the PWD railway crossing in Lagos on Friday. The collision occurred as the train travelled toward Agege, with the impact causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) operatives and security personnel responded immediately to the incident. They extracted the driver from the wreckage and removed the damaged vehicle from the railway tracks, allowing the train to resume its journey shortly after.
The incident triggered heavy traffic congestion in the PWD area, disrupting vehicle flow along the affected corridor. LASTMA officials confirmed that no casualties resulted from the collision and subsequently handed the wrecked car over to security personnel for further investigation.
The quick response from emergency responders prevented what could have been a fatal accident. The damaged vehicle was removed from the railway line within a timeframe that allowed normal train operations to continue without prolonged delays.
