FG Approves Salary Increase for Civil Servants

On Friday, the Federal Government, represented by Didi Walson-Jack, announced a significant pay rise for civil servants during a briefing in Abuja. This reform package includes an increase in peculiar allowances and an upward review of key benefits, as part of a broader initiative to enhance welfare across the public service.

The adjustments will affect salary structures and are designed to improve earnings for workers at various grade levels. Notably, civil servants will receive a 100% duty tour allowance for attending approved training programs, regardless of travel requirements.

Additionally, a new exit benefit scheme will provide retiring civil servants with 100% of their total annual emoluments, effective January 1, 2026. This scheme is in addition to existing pension provisions.

Walson-Jack emphasized that no civil servant should leave government service empty-handed, and the reforms aim to strengthen human capital development within the public service.
