FG Boosts Civil Servants' Allowances and Exit Packages

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced an increase in civil servants' allowances and the introduction of a new exit package scheme, as disclosed by Didi Walson Jack in Abuja on Friday. This reform aims to enhance the earnings and morale of the workforce within the civil service.

The adjustments will affect the salary structure across various grade levels, benefiting both senior and junior officers. Notably, the government has approved a 100% duty tour allowance for civil servants attending approved training programs, regardless of travel requirements.

The new exit benefit scheme, effective January 1, 2026, will provide retiring civil servants, who are contributors to the pension scheme, with a full emolument exit package in addition to their pension benefits. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that no public servant leaves service without adequate financial support.

Furthermore, the government confirmed the implementation of an employee compensation scheme to provide financial protection for workers affected by job-related injuries or death.
