FG Increases Allowances for Federal Civil Servants

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved enhanced allowances for federal civil servants, effective October 1, 2023. This decision was communicated through a circular dated April 23, 2026, signed by Mr.

Ekpo U. Ntah, the Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC).

The review encompasses various allowances, including duty tour allowances and estacode payments, for civil servants across grade levels 1 to 17. Specific amounts have been designated for different grades: grade levels 16 and 17 will receive N109,000, grade levels 14 and 15 will receive N73,000, grade levels 12 and 13 will receive N60,000, grade levels 7 to 10 will receive N51,000, grade levels 5 and 6 will receive N45,000, and grade levels 1 to 4 will receive N30,000.

Additionally, permanent secretaries will receive N1,040, while public officers in grade levels 15 to 17 will receive N737, grade levels 7 to 14 will receive N666, and grade levels 1 to 6 will receive N357. This review aims to enhance the compensation structure within the federal public service.
