FG Arrests Two Illegal Miners, Seals Osun Mining Site

The Federal Government of Nigeria arrested two illegal miners, Danladi Isa and Musa Kabiru, and sealed a gold mining site in Osun State as part of an enforcement operation led by the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. This operation targeted illegal artisan mining camps along the Ileki Ijesa road.

The enforcement team, which included members of the Solid Minerals Task Force, acted on credible intelligence and managed to apprehend the two suspects while several others fled into nearby bushes. The operation resulted in the confiscation of various mining equipment, including motorcycles, pumps, and tools used for illicit activities.

The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, represented by officials like Lara Owoey and Wasiu Adeboy, emphasized the government's commitment to eliminating illegal mining and restoring order in the sector. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure that Nigeria's mineral wealth benefits the country legally and transparently, with ongoing operations expected to continue across the southwest region.
