Nigerian Government Launches Discounted Tricycle Loans for Youth

The administration of President Bola Tinubu has initiated a program to distribute Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tricycles to Nigerian youths, facilitated by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in collaboration with Sub-city Project Global Consult. This financing initiative allows beneficiaries to acquire the tricycles through discounted installment payments, thereby supporting the transition to alternative transportation fuels and alleviating the impact of rising transportation costs due to increased petrol prices.

During the distribution event in Yola, Adamawa State, Imam Umar, Managing Director of Sub-city Project Global Consult, emphasized the program's alignment with the federal government's focus on entrepreneurship and job creation. He encouraged beneficiaries to use the tricycles responsibly and meet repayment obligations.

Rumpe Anthony, Commissioner for Transportation, praised CREDICORP for facilitating access to financing, noting that over 300,000 Nigerians have benefited from consumer credit for essential assets. The initiative aims to enhance mobility in Adamawa and promote a more sustainable transportation system.
