Nigeria Begins Evacuation of Citizens from Iran Amid Tensions

The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced the evacuation of Nigerians wishing to leave Iran amidst escalating tensions in the region. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), confirmed this development in a post shared on Tuesday.

The Nigerian embassy in Tehran is coordinating the evacuation process to ensure the safety of citizens opting to leave Iran, with arrangements for safe escort to Armenia. Dabiri-Erewa reassured that no Nigerians have been harmed amid the ongoing tensions, and embassy personnel remain available to provide assistance and support during the evacuation.

This initiative is part of the Federal Government's efforts to safeguard Nigerians abroad during emergencies, emphasizing its commitment to protecting the welfare of its citizens overseas. The situation in the Middle East continues to be tense, with fears of a wider conflict involving major global powers.
