Nigerians in Qatar, UAE, Iran Seek Evacuation Guidance

The Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has confirmed that Nigerian residents in Qatar, the UAE, and Iran have begun inquiring about possible evacuation plans due to escalating tensions in the region. Several Nigerians have reached out for guidance, seeking clarification on whether the federal government intends to evacuate citizens if the situation deteriorates.

However, NIDCOM stated that it has not received any official distress calls from Nigerians in Iran. The commission emphasized that evacuation is particularly challenging at this moment due to flight restrictions and security concerns.

Ongoing hostilities and the suspension of international flights in the area hinder immediate evacuation efforts. NIDCOM urged Nigerians in these countries to remain calm, stay safe, and maintain regular contact with the Nigerian embassy for necessary updates and guidance.

The commission reassured that the federal government is committed to protecting Nigerians abroad and will take necessary steps if the situation escalates further.
