FG Confirms Continuation of Scholarship Programs Amid Rumors

The Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria has clarified the status of its scholarship programs, disavowing a false notice that claimed the suspension of national award scholarships. The ministry stated that the Federal Scholarship Board has been renamed but continues to operate under the same mandate, ensuring that scholarship programs remain fully functional.

Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the minister of education, emphasized that the discontinuation of the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) scholarship program does not affect domestic scholarship initiatives for Nigerian students in public tertiary institutions.

Existing beneficiaries of the BEA program will continue to receive full government support until they complete their studies. The ministry urged the public to disregard the misleading notice and to rely on verified information from official communication channels.

The commitment to promoting equitable access to quality education through scholarship support initiatives was reiterated.
