FG Launches Aid Program for Displaced Communities in Benue

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated a program to assist communities in Benue State that have been severely impacted by displacement, insecurity, and disruptions to their livelihoods. This program was flagged off on a Friday by Dr. Bernard Doro, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

He emphasized the government's commitment to closing the humanitarian gap and ensuring that vulnerable citizens are not abandoned during times of need. The initiative is part of a broader presidential initiative aimed at providing food and nutritional assistance, particularly to women, children, the elderly, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Benue State, known as the food basket of the nation, has faced significant humanitarian pressures due to ongoing violence, particularly from farmer-herder conflicts, which have disrupted agricultural production and led to increased food prices and malnutrition. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, expressed strong political will and solidarity with the federal government to address these pressing issues.
