Nigeria Commends Poland for Supporting Displaced Students

The Nigerian government, represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, commended Poland for its support of Nigerian students affected by the Ukraine war. This recognition occurred during a meeting with Polish Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski in Abuja.

Ojukwu described Poland's gesture as a strong example of bilateral solidarity, noting that approximately 6,000 Nigerian students are currently in Poland for educational purposes. She emphasized that education is a vital pillar of bilateral relations and expressed gratitude for Poland's assistance in ensuring that Nigerian students can continue their studies despite the disruptions caused by the conflict.

Ojukwu reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Poland, which began on May 30, 1962, and discussed expanding cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and security. Gawkowski reiterated Poland's commitment to collaborating with Nigeria as a strategic partner in Africa, particularly in technology and economic development.
