Nigeria Commends Poland for Supporting Displaced Students

The Nigerian government, through Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, commended Poland for its support of Nigerian students displaced by the Russia-Ukraine war. In a statement issued on Sunday, Ojukwu described Poland's gesture as a strong example of bilateral solidarity.

She received Krzysztof Gawkowski, Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy, in Abuja. Ojukwu noted that education is a vital pillar of bilateral relations, thanking Poland for its assistance to the estimated 6,000 Nigerian students affected by the conflict.

She emphasized the strategic importance of education in the relationship between Nigeria and Poland, which began on May 30, 1962. The two countries are exploring new partnerships in areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and cybersecurity.

Gawkowski reaffirmed Poland's commitment to cooperating with Nigeria, particularly in technology and economic development, and invited Nigerian firms to explore opportunities in Poland.
