FG Launches Aviele Model Veterinary Hospital in Edo State

The Federal Government of Nigeria commissioned the Aviele Model Veterinary Hospital located in Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State, as part of efforts to modernize veterinary healthcare delivery and strengthen livestock production, thereby enhancing food security across the nation. During the commissioning ceremony, Hon.

Idi Mukhtar Maiha, the Minister of Livestock Development, described the facility as a significant milestone in the federal government's livestock transformation agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The hospital, constructed with assistance from the World Bank, aims to improve access to quality animal healthcare services and boost livestock production.

It is one of seven model veterinary hospitals completed in various states, with an additional fourteen at different stages of completion. The facility is equipped with modern veterinary infrastructure, including surgical theatres and diagnostic laboratories, designed to provide efficient animal healthcare, particularly in underserved rural communities.

The Minister emphasized the importance of training veterinary personnel to ensure effective operation and maintenance of the hospital.
