FG distributes free meters to Band A customers again

The Federal Government has resumed the distribution of free meters to Band A customers under the Distribution Sector Recovery Programme (DISREP) Metering Scheme. This initiative aims to distribute millions of meters to customers in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) with the support of a World Bank-funded loan.

Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED Plc) has confirmed the commencement of the program, which will provide prepaid meters free of charge to customers in Bauchi, Benue, Gombe, and Plateau States. The scheme will focus on improving service delivery and bridging the metering gap in the franchise area.

The meters will feature advanced technology to enhance efficiency, security, and transparency, with automated token uploads and GPS location tracking. Customers are advised to visit their nearest JED Plc office for installation and validation of their debt profile.
