NERC Reveals EEDC's Metered Customers in South East

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) revealed that the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has only 704,801 metered customers out of its total customer base in the Southeastern region of Nigeria. Mr.

Chinedu Anyigor, a Senior Manager at NERC, highlighted metering as a major complaint affecting the electricity industry, leading to revenue loss for distribution companies. The federal government has approved a national mass metering program to ensure all customers in the South East region are metered by June 2025.

EEDC aims to encourage residents to switch from estimated billing to metered connections to ensure fair billing practices. The distribution company is working towards improving customer service and reducing revenue losses due to unmetered customers.
