FG Charges Kidnappers of Oriire Schoolchildren in Court

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated legal proceedings against three individuals—Abdulrazak Umar, Yunusa Musa, and Shamsu Adamu Sani—accused of kidnapping schoolchildren and a teacher in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State. The charges, filed in the Federal High Court in Abuja, include ten counts related to terrorism, conspiracy, and violations of the Cybercrime Act.

The suspects are alleged to have conspired with identified individuals, Muhammad Sani, Jibril Moham, and Ibrahim Khabab, to execute the kidnapping plot. They reportedly failed to inform security agencies about the kidnapping despite being aware of the plan.

The accused have declared themselves members of Darul Salam, affiliated with the banned terrorist group Jamaatu Asarul Muslima fi Bilandi Sudan, also known as Ansaru. Additionally, Umar faces separate charges for allegedly providing training and instructions to terrorists via a WhatsApp group titled "On Allah Foundation Peace." The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court next week.
