Wives of Detained Terrorists to Face Prosecution in Oyo

The wives of detained terrorists linked to the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State, are preparing to face prosecution. Investigations reveal their direct involvement in the crime, as security agencies have intensified efforts to dismantle the kidnapping network.

On May 15, 2026, 39 schoolchildren and seven teachers were kidnapped and held captive for several weeks, during which one teacher was reportedly killed. Following a successful intelligence operation, security forces rescued the victims.

The operation led to the arrest of several wives and children of the suspects, who are now being questioned in Abuja. The security agencies are under pressure to ensure the safe release of the victims, rejecting ransom demands made by the terrorist group Ansaru, which included the release of detained members and the implementation of Sharia law.

Instead, they are focusing on military pressure and intelligence-driven operations to secure the hostages' release without conditions.
