FG Charges Activist with Cyberstalking Interior Minister

The Federal Government has initiated legal proceedings against social crusader Emorioloy Owolemi, accusing him of cyberstalking Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, the Interior Minister of Nigeria. Owolemi faces two counts of cyberstalking under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, amended in 2024.

The alleged offenses occurred on December 23, 2025, in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area, Ondo State. Owolemi is accused of intentionally sending messages via Facebook that were grossly offensive and threatening.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled a hearing for March 26, 2026. This legal action comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding Tunji Ojo's alleged forgery of his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.

Owolemi had previously sought a court inquiry into the authenticity of the minister's secondary school certificate, which was granted by Justice Binta Nyako on February 14, 2026. Civil society groups have condemned the minister's actions, suggesting they aim to intimidate dissenting voices.
