FG Collaborates with Ebonyi, Enugu on 4,000MW Power Plan

The Federal Government of Nigeria is actively engaging with Ebonyi and Enugu states to advance a 4,000MW grid plan as part of its Presidential Power Initiative (PPI). This initiative aims to overhaul the country's fragile power infrastructure and ensure stable electricity supply.

A high-level meeting led by Babatunde Daramola Oniru, Chief Commercial Officer of the FGN Power Company, and attended by state government officials, emphasized the importance of collaboration and local ownership to reduce implementation risks. The project includes the construction of a critical 330kV double circuit transmission line in Ebonyi State, which is expected to enhance power evacuation capacity and improve electricity supply for homes and industries.

Prof. Grace Umezurik, Secretary of Ebonyi State Government, expressed full support for the project, highlighting its significance for the state's development.

Similarly, Prof. Chidieber Onyia, Secretary of Enugu State Government, noted that reliable electricity is central to transforming Enugu into a modern smart city.

The FGN Power Company aims to address long-standing bottlenecks in Nigeria's power value chain through this initiative.
