FG Expands ICT Experience Centres to 15 More Institutions

The Federal Government announced the expansion of the TETFund/Renewed Hope Initiative ICT Experience Centre programme to 15 additional tertiary institutions in Nigeria, aimed at enhancing digital skills among youths. This announcement was made by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, during the inauguration of the ICT Experience Centre at Kwara State University (KWASU) in Malete, represented by Hajia Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice-President.

Construction is ongoing in various states including Adamawa, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Katsina, Nasarawa, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Yobe, and Zamfara. The KWASU facility is described as a modern technology hub featuring ICT laboratories, digital displays, conference facilities, and exhibition spaces.

It is part of a pilot phase that includes six institutions across different geopolitical zones. TETFund Executive Secretary, Mr. Sonny Echono, indicated that N1 billion has been approved for each centre, which will focus on training in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, and software development.
