FG Expands TETFund ICT Centres to 15 More Institutions
The Federal Government is extending the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)/Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) ICT Experience Centre programme to 15 additional tertiary institutions across Nigeria. This announcement was made by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Tuesday during the commissioning of the ICT Experience Centre at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.
Represented by Hajia Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice President, Tinubu stated that construction has begun in institutions across 15 states, including Adamawa, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Katsina, Nasarawa, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Yobe, and Zamfara. The initiative aims to provide young Nigerians with access to essential knowledge and skills in a digital economy.
The KWASU centre features modern technology hubs, including ICT laboratories and conference facilities. Arc Sonny Echono, Executive Secretary of TETFund, indicated that each centre costs approximately N1 billion and is designed to enhance digital capabilities in fields like artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
