Final Deadline for 2026 Textbook Submissions Extended

The Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) announced a final extension for the submission of textbooks and instructional materials for the “2026 Phase I assessment, reassessment and ranking exercise” to August 7, 2026. This extension, approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, follows the previous deadline of July 3, 2026, and is intended to encourage wider participation in the national textbook evaluation exercise.

Prof. Salisu Shehu, the Executive Secretary of NERDC, stated that the extension allows more publishers, authors, and stakeholders in the book industry to participate in the assessment process.

NERDC emphasized that this final extension is crucial for ensuring broader participation and compliance with the Textbook Quality Indicators and Submission Guidelines, which remain unchanged and are available on their official website. The council warned that no further extensions will be granted, and late submissions after the August 7 deadline will not be accepted.

The National Textbook Ranking System is part of the Federal Ministry of Education's Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving the quality of basic and secondary education.
