Eight Kidnappers Arrested in Oyo State Rescue Operation

In Oyo State, eight kidnappers were arrested and others neutralized during a rescue operation following the abduction of a pupil and a teacher in the Orir Local Government Area. Bayo Onanuga, a presidential adviser, provided details of the operation, stating that no concessions were made to the terrorists for the victims' release.

The operation was conducted by the Department of State Services (DSS), which is currently holding the arrested kidnappers in custody. Onanuga emphasized that the kingpin whose release was demanded by the kidnappers was neither freed nor spared and will remain prosecuted for offenses linked to terrorist activities.

The incident, which occurred on May 15, involved gunmen storming three schools, resulting in the killing of a teacher, whose beheading was later circulated in a video that sparked national outrage. Security agencies are expected to provide a comprehensive account of the operation soon.
