FG Files Treason Charges Against Timipre Sylva and Others

The Federal Government of Nigeria has filed 13 counts of treason and terrorism against six individuals, including former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, and two retired senior military officers. The charges were filed in the Federal High Court in Abuja and signed by Rotimi Oyedepo, the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The defendants are accused of conspiring to undermine the Nigerian state and failing to disclose security intelligence related to a plot to wage war against the country. The charges also include allegations of money laundering linked to terrorist financing, with specific accusations against Inspector Ahm Ibrahim Zekeri and others for retaining large sums of money without going through financial institutions.

The arraignment is scheduled for April 22 before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik.
