Seven Charged in Alleged Coup Plot Against Tinubu

The Federal Government of Nigeria has filed a 13-count charge against seven suspects linked to an alleged plot to forcibly overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The suspects include former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva and retired military personnel, such as Major General Moham Ibrahim Gana and Captain Victor Erasmu Ochegobia.

The charges, filed by Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, include treason, conspiracy to overthrow the government, and terrorism financing, with a total of six individuals being investigated alongside Sylva. The alleged offenses are said to have occurred in Abuja in 2025, with the suspects accused of waging war against Nigeria and committing acts of terrorism.

The case is currently under the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court in Abuja, where the government seeks to hold the suspects accountable for their actions against the state.
