FG Launches 15 Million Learners’ Support Kits Nationwide

The Nigerian Federal Government officially launched the distribution of 15 million Learners’ Support Kits to vulnerable schoolchildren across the country. The flag-off ceremony took place in Makurdi, Benue State, coinciding with the 2026 Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Basic Education Summit.

Dr. Aisha Garba, the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), emphasized the administration's commitment to ensuring that no Nigerian child is left behind in accessing basic education.

The nationwide distribution will begin with 1,155,900 school kits, which include school bags, sandals, pencils, and exercise books, targeting children from low-income households. This initiative is part of a broader intervention to alleviate financial burdens on parents, boost enrollment, and improve retention rates in basic schools.

The program aligns with the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda and aims to address barriers preventing millions of children from accessing education. Additionally, the initiative includes various infrastructural improvements and support programs for schools in Benue State.
