Nigeria Launches ADAPT Forum to Enhance Digital Trade

The Federal Government of Nigeria inaugurated the Africa Digital Access and Public Infrastructure for Trade (ADAPT) country implementation forum/subcommittee on Wednesday in Abuja. This initiative, part of the AfCFTA framework, positions Nigeria as a leader in Africa's digital trade transformation, alongside Kenya and Morocco.

Mrs. Patience Okala, National Coordinator/CEO of the Nigeria AfCFTA Coordination Office, emphasized Nigeria's commitment to shaping Africa's digital economy.

The implementation will be driven by Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, who is also the Chairperson of the AfCFTA Council of Ministers.

The ADAPT initiative aims to create a single, interoperable digital infrastructure for trade, focusing on simplifying trade documentation, enabling trusted digital identities, and improving logistics. It aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, targeting economic diversification and job creation.

The forum will also prioritize expanding market access for MSMEs, women-owned enterprises, and youth-led businesses across the continent.
