Nigeria Champions Digital Trade at AfCFTA Forum in Lagos

Nigeria is at the forefront of Africa's digital trade efforts, as highlighted during the second AfCFTA Digital Trade Forum held at the National Theatre in Lagos. Dr.

Jumoke Oduwole, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, delivered a keynote address on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that digital trade will be a key driver for the continent's economic integration and growth. The forum serves as a critical platform for translating the AfCFTA digital trade protocol into practical business opportunities across Africa.

Dr. Oduwole noted that the AfCFTA creates a market of 1.4 billion people with a combined GDP exceeding $20 trillion by 2025.

She also mentioned reforms supporting digital businesses, including the Digital Business Tax Reform Act and the Investment Security Act of 2025. The event was attended by various trade policymakers and business leaders, with H.E.

Wamkele Mene, the Secretary-General of AfCFTA, commending Nigeria's leadership in implementing digital trade protocols.
